GERMANY

     Where is Germany? Was the Grimm fairy tales written there and based on Germany? You may have wondered this, so I will now let you know.

     Germany is located in Europe. They speak German.  There are 80.62 million people in the country. Germany is a little smaller than Montana.

     The Grimm fairy tales do have something to do with Germany. It has to do with Germany because it was written there and the writers were born there. The names of the writers are Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. Stories they wrote include Cinderella, The Frog Prince, The Goose-Girl, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White.  These stories are so popular and good that the books were made into 100 different languages. Later they were made into many movies.  They were well-respected German folktale writers.

Fun Germany Facts:

  • Albert Einstein was born in Germany. 

  • Over 100 Germans have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Football (soccer) in Germany is the popular sport.

  • In Germany they have school on Saturdays!
